Oklahoma flags lowered for late Langston University president

The 81-year-old Holloway died Dec. 24 while undergoing treatment for stomach cancer. Funeral services were being held Friday at Langston.

Fallin called the longtime president of Oklahoma's only historically black college a "talented and committed educator" who left a legacy in the lives of his students.

Holloway's 25 years as president at Langston made him the longest serving president in the history of the school that was founded in 1897, 10 years before statehood. He was named the school's 14th president in 1979.

Fallin has ordered that flags on all state property be flown at half-staff until 5 p.m. Friday.
